For those of you not familiar with Loot Crate, here’s a little background…If you are a fan of pop culture or gaming, you’ll love Loot Crate. It’s a monthly subscription service that sends you a box of cool products specifically for geeks and gamers alike. Included every month is $40 worth of products and/or redeemable codes for less than $20 per month.
Each month is a different theme, which they announce by the first day of every month. What’s included is a surprise, but they don’t focus on just one brand; so, there’s something to please everyone. There’s also an insider magazine with information related to the theme and products in each box.
Now, on to February’s Loot Crate reveal!
I was excited to see what was included in Mr. Awesome’s Loot Crate for February. I love when they include t-shirts, but I was happy to see they changed up the products with unique items. The first featured item was a Mini Munny. This is a vinyl toy that you can decorate yourself with dry erase markers, paint, etc. Loot Crate is actually having a contest for the best figures decorated by Looters. They haven’t announced the prize (at the time of this post), so I’m excited to see what it is.
I still have to decide how I’m going to decorate it. Any suggestions?
A copy of Ernest Cline’s Ready Player One was included. With over 4,000 reviews on Amazon, it’s rated 4.5 stars! Mr. Awesome isn’t much of a reader, but after he saw the synopsis of this book, he decided to give it a try…and he’s actually reading it and says it’s really good! Here’s the synopsis:
In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade’s devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world’s digital confines—puzzles that are based on their creator’s obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them.
But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade’s going to survive, he’ll have to win—and confront the real world he’s always been so desperate to escape.
Hex Bugs are super fun to play with, so it was cool to see an Ant was included in the box.
Of course, with a theme like PLAY, there has to be some games included. So, this month’s box had an exclusive Looter Edition of the Superfight Card Game, a custom “Rock, Paper, Scissors” dice game, and a premium code for the Firefly Online game.
There was also a Pac-Man poster included. I’m not a huge fan of the posters they include. Personally, I outgrew posters when I entered my twenties. I’d rather see lithographs/premium frame-worthy prints.
Of course, there was a magazine for this month’s theme and in it were pieces for…
the box, which opened into a board game!
